The class is littered with an abundance of tall talent which is exciting to see, as a lot of previous drafts top talent has mainly been midfielders. We have a massive opportunity to change things around sooner rather than later if we aggressively attack this draft (re:2004) Also look at the NGA prospects for teams around us. I would be very disappointed if GW wasted it on a young ruck. I wouldn't say he's as good as Rowell but he'll definitely go early. Not sure on Thilthorpe. He was matching guys like Rowell & Anderson in his underage year. Forums. If you value other criteria (ie overhead marking or agility for a key forward) you may come up with a different assessment of McDonalds ability. 7.25. Even if we finish above Fremantle (by some miracle) their pick will get knocked down the order due to points deficit. I can't see the sense in dramatically cutting list sizes, and to be honest l can't see the clubs going for it due to the impact on list strategies (Dmac). Phillips just seems like more of what we already have. Probably not the worst year to have traded out all of our late picks. A winger. Righto here we go again, what do we need: Yes we need mids. Some talk of it being a draft for 19 yr olds, which means no draft this year, but from now on it would be for 19yr olds. I’m sure at some stage they’ll be able to play even just a few games and then the recruiters will just have to make decisions based off that. This is a year where there's a massive risk/reward element based off your talent ID systems. I'll be gutted if we end up going to this draft with only pick 6 or 7, but sadly I think that's the way it'll pan out. To me there’s no need for permanent changes because of a one year problem. At the start of this year I had us 6-8th on the ladder, and I reckon without covid, we might have not been far off that. I know nothing about this draft, but if there’s a gun key forward available with our first pick, I hope we take them.
Listen online, no signup necessary. This is our highest first round pick since 2006.
Too early to say draft 'x' type with our first. I’m not convinced of Phillips skills. You can't just leave the 18yr olds hanging over this (without a chance to earn a wage remember).
Hollands over Phillips for me. If they canceled the season we'd have pick 1. McDonald or Thilthorpe at 3. Maybe if they cancelled this season, they could use the 2019 picks again. Clubs . Can't argue with that. Holland’s and DGB looked to have the most talent and upside. Swap Pick 3 and 21 around. JavaScript is disabled. All your draft news and talk with our Draft Experts. He values winning games as the best thing for the culture and learning experience. Controversial but I also think they might cancel the cap next year so that the teams who want to pay more to players to top up salary lost, can do so. Say we do actually win a few more games (god forbid) and we move to pick 6 to 8 or so. And for hawthorn, he is very similar to the players on our list. I reckon Adelaide are a certainty to get pick 2 for Crouch if he leaves, which I think they’ll encourage. Like Quote Reply.
- Ep. We need an elite KPF in the side yesterday. Hollands no worries. They'll need to let teams pick up academy and F/S picks, and there'll need to be at least a first round. Pick 3: Composed mid with elite disposal Pick 21: Key fwd Pick 40: mid/fwd Pick 46: Downie Pick 59: best available Pick 63: best available That's my ideal draft in regards to positions addressed. We would have pick 6, providing we dont give it away again. Adelaide Crows Women's Team: 2 x AFLW premiers! Will Day was 25 in Cal's first phantom draft in July last year. How I hope the draft goes down (if the ladder stays the same): Why wouldn't Adelaide go with Thilthorpe @ 1. Come next year - whose going to remember a few wins late in 2020 Don’t get me wrong - players will still give 100% and we all expect that. Join FREE and support Australia's favourite footy community. That being said he probably wouldn't be my first choice with our selection. Why not just run the draft as per normal? as long as the Dogs don’t get Ugle Hagen or what ever his name is I’m cool. You must log in or register to reply here. I wouldn't be unhappy with the selection, just think there are better options for us. The South Australian prospect has been one to rise up the draft rankings across the season. That’s fantastic and obvious from a coaches perspective. Reaching for Baldwin, he’ll more than likely still be available at pick 25 considering he is coming off an ACL. 2020 Draft. If they based the clubs picks off the one game played, we would have pick 9. Must go into this draft with a top 5 pick. Don't think we need to spend big on getting a key … These are the 5 players that will come into consideration: I wouldn't use a top 5 pick on Phillips. To my eyes Campbell is above and beyond the best player in this draft- I'm really hoping either pick before Sydney go for him to force their hand- then ideally have said team change tact and go after a key tall or something leaving Hollands open for us. 1; 2; 3 … Go to page. The Backyard The Locker Room. Our list is not as bad as some make out, and our best at times this year has beaten / competed with the best teams in the comp.
… I assume Hollands/McDonald/Tilthorpe/DBG/Phillips are all gone then, Only if you agree with the way he rates a player. Trew at 25 would be good value. JavaScript is disabled. So it's extremely likely we're going to have our first top 4 pick since 2005.
Unless there's someone who stands out from the pack then probably best bet would be to go for the best KPF we can get our hands on. So we're likely going to have a pick between 2-4. Mcdonald looks a very natural footballer with pace being my question mark on him. Really hope we don’t 2-3 lousy meaningless games. I may be in the minority around these parts, but I think it's an absolute monty that we will come home with a bit of a wet sail and win at least 2-3 more games. The reality is we are pretty solid and well coached - there’s still 3 games where we are a good chance at picking up 4 points. No doubt he’s good, but that’s a big call. News. It wouldn't surprise me if he went Pick 2. I don’t think he has as much upside as any of the players mentioned above either. Better off getting a ruckman with a 3rd-4th round pick or as a DFA.

I don't disagree but I'm not sure the clubs are keen with no exposed form this year. Long time draft follower but first time running a thread. This. I feel they'll just not count this year and it'll be next year. Not too shabby. Usually of the mind that you draft the best available talent rather than for need, but i think our key position stocks are too weak to not try draft 1 or 2 of the better KPP prospects. Struggle to choose whether we go for McDonald if he’s still there though, kid looks great. It's clear and I've heard whispers that our boys have had a horrid time on the road, and this whole year has been a bit of a clusterfu** generally. Im very excited about up coming season as ive always been bullish on this draft class, with my belief that it is a lot stronger than many in the media have given it credit for.
