baldur's gate best class first playthrough

It starts at level 1 in a ruleset that can be very punishing in the early game and even though it gives a lot of the early game enemies penalties, they can still get in a lucky hit that can take out one of your party. The fighter levels give more HP and the ability to truly specialize in a weapon along with an even better THACO. To make some of the fights more comical.

Woe was me. You'll have a party of 6 character, so no matter your class you'll be able to get the 4 ones important for every party: Fighter (can be replaced by Ranger or Paladin), Mage (Specialists too, but not all of them are worthwhile), Cleric and Thief. Explore, BG is open-ended and you can't find fun stuff. If you want more freedom when picking your party members, you should probably one of these four for your character.

Well...I definitely wouldn't recommend it. (or save before/after every engagement so that if you run into something too big for you you can just reload without too much lost time). It's a game from 1998. Fighter/Cleric - The cleric is, somewhat counter-intuitively, one of the most powerful combat classes in the game. At low levels you're the weakest member in the party but by the end of BG1, you're more or less an unstoppable killing machine.5) Druid: Not a bad class but it has numerous problems. You have time to complete them, it's never really a big hurry. What made your "build" ineffective? I may end up playing it with no sound for the most part.

Nah, for a first playthrough stick with the fighter. If not. Though lately I've taken to playing pure mage (Not specialized). neonit:Ehm, i for one would recommend mage. I do not recommend Bard for a first time playthrough. Not good in an all-good party. The game is vastly improved by patches and a few key mods. © 2020 CBS Interactive Inc. All rights reserved. The only classes/class combinations that are better than these are complex dual- or multi-class combinations, or pure mages, which are DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED for newbies. If you don't you're going to miss almost everything you try to hit and die pretty quickly. In my party, I had 3 fighters (for front-line combat), 1 Cleric (for healing), and 2 Mages (for, well, Magic). The best cleric weapon in Baldur's Gate 1 is a warhammer and is relatively easy to obtain early on, ... for hardcore playthrough. I have a big blind spot in my gaming repertoire with old PC WRPGs. Shaun Kennedy:I always enjoyed playing as a Ranger, a good ranged class with some decent survivability. You've got to have 15 points in the primary stat of your starting class and at least 17 points in the primary stat of your ending class. Mod the shit out of it. How vital is sound? My evil mage was more fun, though... and more powerful, given the batman scenario of time to prepare. Immersion is real if you manage to do that. I'm also open to any (spoiler-free) tips and tricks that make the game more enjoyable. And which companions have you had with you? Without their dreams men would have fallen upon and devoured one another long ago, and yet every dream is an illusion, and every illusion is a lie.
I just got the game Baldur's Gate and I'm wanting to get on with it right away, but I'm really unsure as to which class my main character should be. If you are concerned about long term power (and don't mind dealing with a dozen or more frustrating hours where you're playing as a weak and pathetic PC) any multiclass that includes a mage can be extremely potent. As far as that part of the OP goes, you don't need to worry about that. THAC0 is wacko so go with story mode if you don't wanna bother with the combat. Best easy-to-play classes are, in no particular order: 1) Berserker (Fighter kit): the 'Enrage' ability supercharges your character and makes him immune to many, many horrible status ailments (charm, hold, fear, maze, imprisonment, stun, confusion, feeblemind, level drain and sleep to be precise). http://www.gamefaqs.com/pc/75251-baldurs-gate/faqs/8566, http://playithardcore.com/pihwiki/index.php?title=Baldur, Diablo III's Massive, Free Loot 2.0 Patch Goes Live. VERY IMPORTANT!! Plus wizards can only cast each spell once a day; obviously you acquire more spells eventually, but those first few hours will stall a bit. The lower your armor class and THAC0 the better (I think some weapons may say something like "+2 to THAC0", this is fine as that would actually take your THAC0 down by 2), it's weird but you'll get used to it. As for a general tip: Don't give up. Make sure you're registered to vote and know all your options to vote safely! Save scum, even if you are not a usual save scummer. Paladin was my favorite. Also, they are tanky, can wield big two handers and are the perfect party face. I own Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition on GOG. Buy it on eBay! Dexterity is useful for spell touch attacks.
Couple that with having a decent base THACO and having access to lots of buffs, it's a powerful class. Clerics have better spells and a pure fighter if far and away the better fighter.
