Up in the sky, everyone is having a wonderful time and marveling at how the Elevator is in the air. They pass strange sights, like a rock candy quarry, gushers, and toffee-apple trees. Wonka has just offered his factory to Charlie. They decide to go to Charlie’s home, to tell his family the news.
Charlie is now the owner of the incredible Chocolate Factory. The protagonist of Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator is a very likeable boy, Charlie Bucket, whose life goes through some dramatic changes as the story unfolds. They crash straight through the roof of Charlie’s house, shocking his parents and grandparents. In Chocolate Factory, Wonka and Charlie are in a giant glass elevator, rocketing through the sky. Grandpa George, Grandma Georgina, and Grandma Josephine are in their bed. Wonka explains to Charlie that what he saw on his tour was nothing; the factory is massive. He, Willy Wonka, his parents, and his two sets of grandparents are inside the Great Glass Elevator. The Elevator heads deeper and deeper down into the Factory. The two sit in the Elevator and Wonka tells Charlie to strap in tight.
