The operating season typically runs from early December to end of March. small children to learn to ski or snowboard on gentle terrain. I was pleasantly surprised with how much fun it was. Skiing, Snowboarding and Tubing in the St. Louis area since 1982. down big hill strait on and they made me take skiing lessons after I wiped out. When in full operation the resort is open Wednesday to Sunday from 9am to 4:30pm and lifts operating 9:30am to 4pm. Although in the parking lot, I saw an SUV try to fit into a too-tight space and ended up hitting the truck next to it and driving off. Its was fun. For $26, I don't find this place worth it and would not recommend it. Lifts run from 9:30am to 4pm. Hidden Valley also offers a host of amenities including a sports club, retail and spa facilities and a championship golf course.
In comparison to other ski places that are within driving distance (e.g., Mount Crescent in Iowa), this place is excellent and only about 30 minutes from the city of St. Louis. There was no path to walk besides if you wanted to wander around the park in the grass that was half a foot tall. So glad that there's somewhere to get skiing or snowboarding that's a reasonable drive away from. Walked the "trail" they had, which was just a worn path they had for their ATVs. They open at night which is pretty nice for day workers like me. Finally another employ showed up and said they didn't have any body available to teach the class but since they were in a "Christmas spirit " they would allow us to come back at a later date. It's small but I enjoy it. Woo Hoo!!!!! When we were done, I asked the employee working in the food area for a small cup of water (since a bottle of water was $3!) Please be aware of Park Rules and Etiquette before using the parks. Basically the Polar Plunge Tubing Area is a small section of Hidden Valley, however there is still between 6-8 individual lanes down the 1200 foot slope. It's the longest and highest up. 37K likes. With the cold and snowy winter, there were great conditions at times as well. The townsite of Elkwater contains year round amenities and trails with a Café, Hotel and Restaurants to enjoy. We especially liked chilling out by the fireplace, of course with a few beers in hand from the bar. Just like other people's comment, this place IS a 'hidden gem'. I've been snowboarding once before in Colorado but I'm still a beginner and this place wasn't too intimidating as far as the slopes go. There are a good combination of blues and greens for beginners like myself to fall down. It is a great place to learn, and spend the day! The montane environment in which it is located provides some stunning vistas looking over the prairies toward the city of Medicine Hat, 65 km to the North West and some 600m below. Weather around the area doesn't give you a lot of below freezing conditions very often, even at midnights, so you're stuck with slushy hills...but hey, what are you gonna do if you don't want to drive up to Wisconsin?"

Hidden Valley is one of those places that you didn't realize you have been missing until you actually try it. There are 17 runs and every time I've gone, at least 14 are open. Their map states that they have a few black diamonds, but in reality, these would be more equivalent to blue runs at other more well-known ski resorts.

It's about 20 minutes drive from downtown saint louis. I brought my daughter to hidden valley and we purchased lessons for snowboarding along with renting all the equipment.
