You don't always notice it, but during a lot of the scenes in "Safe" there's a low-level hum on the soundtrack. It simply stays at the same level that it starts at. Again, I find it very hard to explain but it was hard to truly get into the film since it didn't really build to an epic climax. While hard-hitting and violently inventive, Safe ultimately proves too formulaic to set itself apart from the action thriller pack -- including some of its star's better films.
