The Canning River was an important means of transport in the early period of settlement.
The start point for the Victoria Resevoir Walk Trail is the car park before the gates into the Reservoir.
The towns are located at the summit of the Great Dividing Range and near to Mount Disappointment State Forrest. One of the other notable features of this area is the amount of birdlife.

This entire area was devestated in the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires and there is still plenty of evidence showing the damage. My route back towards Wandong was a little more rushed as I didn’t want to miss the hourly train from Heathcote Junction. Thanks Philip I am quite interested in walking this area some time in the future. From the sights and sounds along the entire walk, there are more birds here than I have seen before in a similar setting.
