So I just got a laptop from best buy, with the laptop I bought I get a complimentary anti-virus program of my choice.

Very good antiphishing score. I can't speak for Webroot, but try Avira Free Antivirus. I assume I got a virus within the first week I bought my new laptop.... because my laptop wouldn't start up.

Webroot’s identity shield works in the background and is tied into its web and phishing protection. So I had to reset the whole pc. This is a product I would be comfortable recommending, particularly for a user with older hardware .
Ransomware protection. Don't get it. Watch out when you down load windows 10 that is where I got in trouble the minute I went to my e mail it shot down the computer and that web root come on with a number to call to get it going again 239 dollars later it was running again supposed to be foe three years now they keep calling saying I need this or that and they can fix it for another 150 bucks I hung up on them.my suggestion is don't go near the crooks, In my opinion Avira is a good antivirus tools you can use to protect or clean up your pc. It sucks.

Raphael is right, but I would not recommend Trend Micro or any of there products, they boast about protection that does not slow down your computer but there detection rates have plummeted since a couple of years ago, i'd say Kaspersky.
